More than basic care: The Children’s Home
The children’s home was built in 2021.
School construction began in 2024.
At the same time, one thing is especially important to us:
Our work is meant to be more than basic care. Step by step, a place is taking shape that not only protects, but transforms. A place where uncertainty becomes hope.
Children’s Bedroom
Here is a look into one of the children’s home’s four bedrooms, where six children sleep in each room.
The rooms are designed so that each child has enough space for their personal needs, as well as room for reading, playing and shared activities. A structured daily routine provides guidance: bedtime for all children begins at 7:00 PM, followed by getting up together at 7:00 AM the next morning.

Common Room
One of the 3 common rooms in the children’s home.
Here, the children can do their homework, study together, eat and spend time with one another.
Kitchen
The shared kitchen has solid basic equipment and offers plenty of space for cooking together and preparing meals.

Classroom
One of the common rooms is used as a classroom in the mornings.
From Monday to Friday, lessons take place here in the basic subjects of reading, writing and arithmetic.
Play Lawn
The children’s home grounds include a large outdoor area where children can also ride bicycles and play football. Here on the play lawn, Emmanuel can be seen in the afternoons after lessons with the children.

How It All Began
Hope Begins with a Story
Sometimes it all begins with pain.
And sometimes, hope is born from exactly that.
This story begins with a boy
who had lost everything himself.

From Survival to Hope
Joseph’s Story
Joseph was born on an island in 2017. He had no parents who were there for him. His mother left him. His father was never there. He lived with his great-grandmother—in extreme poverty. Often without food. Often without hope.
One day, Emmanuel and his team met him on the street. His condition was devastating. Wounds on his head. Dirty clothes. Ill.
In that moment, Emmanuel knew:
That could have been me.
And he also knew:
I will not leave him behind.
He set off immediately. In the middle of the night. Across the water. Without knowing what awaited him. Joseph was seriously ill. All night long, Emmanuel fought for him. Then, at the hospital, the diagnosis: malaria.
Joseph found on the street
Today, Joseph is a cheerful boy. He plays. He learns. He helps other children. And often he is the first to welcome new children. He gives them what he himself never had: a home.
What began with my story—and became visible through Joseph—is now a home for many children. Children who would otherwise have no chance.
A life can change.
When someone does not look away.
Looking Closer Changes Lives
Emmanuel and his team arrived just in time.
